This is a fan-made character sheet for We Eat Roses to Grow Thorns. The original game was created by Isabelle Ruebsaat.
As much as this game is autobiographical for her, this character is autobiographical for me.
It's a derelict, walking machine, with a complex mask for a face, animated with gears and cables.
A plant is growing from inside.
Its maker is long gone.
You were made by someone who isn't there anymore to take their place. What was their function?
You had a strong connection with my maker. Was it love or hatred?
You helped my maker making me, knowing I would replace them. Was it solace or hastening?
You can’t sleep, but your energy core is sometimes faulty.
You can’t dream, but your sensors are sometimes faulty.
You can’t feel pain, but you can’t feel pleasure.
You can’t love, but XXXXXXX.
You have modules, fulfilling functions:
When they each break apart, you'll have one last opportunity to use them, but something will be wrong, or difficult, before they definitely cease to function.
The tools of your function are already broken, but you can push them one last time.
A plant has started to grow from inside of you. It's impeding with more and more of your functions, and the sprouts are visible from outside.
When you have no more legs nor hands, its roots wiggle and take you where you shouldn't go.
When you have no more eyes nor ears, it feels things happening around it.
When you're fully broken apart and the plant has outgrown you, you become it. Exchange your pivotal and regressional moves. Write new abilities as you discover them. Write new relational moves as you establish them.
